Agriculture Machinery Research Program(AMRP)

It's Objective

One of the core mandates of Agriculture Machinery & Technology Centre (AMTC) is to ensure the safe, efficient and quality farm mechanization technology in the country under one of the core sections, Agriculture Machinery Certification Program (AMCP). In collaboration to Bhutan Standards Bureau (BSB), AMCP actively engages in the formulation and harmonization of farm machinery standards and test codes in the country. These standards are first developed at the AMTC-TC level and endorsed as Ministry Level Standards, while those deliberated at TC-08 meetings under BSB are endorsed as National Level Standards.

Farm machinery standards are formulated based on user needs to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. With the increasing import and sale of farm machinery, these standards help farmers choose reliable, durable, and safe machines. This activity has become very significant due to a substantial rise in the import and sale of farm machines by various private firms. The testing and certification process provide end-users with the opportunity to make informed choices in selection of safe and efficient machines. Also, it helps in establishing healthy competition among private firms, encouraging improved standards in their machine sales.
